Most of you know, but Brandon and I recently moved to Nashville, TN. We've both always wanted to get out of Ohio and about a year ago, he asked if I could job search in the Nashville area so he could pursue a career in music. As soon as he mentioned the idea, I knew it was meant to be. It felt so right. So, I narrowed my job search to higher education institutions around Nashville in hopes that things would work out.
We definitely feel that this is where God wants us to be. There's no other way to explain the simplicity involved in us getting here. I heard about Belmont University from a friend and heard about the concept of informational interviews from another friend. Before Belmont even posted a job opening, I contacted them to ask if I could visit for an informational interview. They welcomed the idea and in January, Brandon and I made the drive to campus, not realizing (but hoping) that this would be our future home. I already loved Belmont because, again, everything felt right about it. After meeting with Jamie, now my supervisor, I knew that I belonged at Belmont. Of course, I increased my odds and applied for jobs at other institutions, but before I could even interview with many, I was offered a position in the Office of Residence Life at Belmont.
I began working as a Residence Director at Belmont University on June 1st. Its only been 16 days and things are already seeming natural. I'm learning the job, meeting so many wonderful people, and Brandon and I are LOVING Nashville.
Brandon is taking advantage of every opportunity possible to build relationships with anyone close to the music industry. He has meetings almost every day with a new person to discuss what they're doing, what he's doing, and what opportunities there might be to get involved in 'the biz'. Thankfully, everyone here is so nice and they're willing to help him. He's also applying to other jobs to bring in an income until the music thing takes off.
We're in the process of making a summer to-do list of fun activities in Nashville that we want to take part in. On the list: a Sounds game (the Brewer's feed team) next week, a movie in the park, country concerts, and eating at LOTS of new restaurants. We'll be sure to keep you updated with stories of our adventures as they happen!
So, this is the beginning of our Chapter Two, as we like to call it. We're enjoying this part of our life together so very much and are excited for what God has in store for our future. We've created this blog to keep in touch with our family and friends and to stay updated despite the distance that is now between us. We miss you all and love you very much. We are also thankful for your support throughout the years - we realize that without you, we wouldn't be here. We hope you enjoy reading about our new life - we definitely enjoy experiencing it! Again, we love you and hope you're doing well!
:) Sounds exciting :)
