Getting Involved in Nashville

It's been about four months since Brandon and I moved to Nashville. We're settled into our apartment (although I'm ready to make a few furniture/decor changes) and we've done a lot of sight-seeing and eating out (as you know from our posts). At this point, we agree that it's time to get involved in our community. 

Our first step in getting involved was volunteering at our church. Brandon has joined our church's multimedia team and I have started watching children in the church nursery. We haven't been doing this long (maybe two weeks or so), but we're enjoying getting to know other people at the church (and I'm enjoying getting my baby-fix). 

I just finished reading a book about someone who volunteers at her local hospital. This made me think two things: first, it reminded me how blessed I am to be healthy and to have a healthy husband too; second, it made me want to give back to my community in a great way. I'm not sure where I'd like to volunteer yet (a local hospital is not out of the question), but I'm beginning to search for organizations in Nashville that need volunteers. If you have any ideas, please let me know! 

As you already know, Brandon has joined a songwriting organization and he's been actively co-writing with many new friends. I'm glad he's found his place in Nashville, but I'm still looking for mine. Don't get me wrong, we're VERY happy here, I just happen to be making new friends slower than Brandon. 

That's our update for today - we're going to spend our afternoon cheering on the Buckeyes and our evening watching a friend's band play at the Hard Rock. Hope you're having a great day!
